Frame and fork: $750 The Bleriot is the best deal in the Rivendell line of bikes. It's the best DEAL because rather than being made in America or Japan, where the cost of labor is quite high, it is made in Taiwan, where the labor cost is still high compared to China and Vietnam and India, but a whole heckuvalot lower than it is in Japan or America. It is made with our own lugs, fork crown, seat stay plugs, and bottom bracket shell.
The Bleriot is an all-around road and fire trail and touring bike (or sold as frame and fork alone), and uses 650B wheels. They're bigger in diameter than mountain bike 26-inch wheels, but smaller than 700C wheels. That makes it an odd-duck wheel size, and that alone will scare off the timid. But the Bleriot is a fantastic bike. And the fear of not being able to get rims and tube and tires for it& is all in your head, if it's anywhere at all. We stock them, and the biggest bicycle parts distributor in the country (Quality Bicycle Parts, in Minnesota) does, too.
The Bleriot concept and design is completely Rivendell's. QBP, our favorite distributor, is also carrying the Bleriots, which means we can usually get them on short notice if we don't have a particular size in stock. Most are not up to speed on 650B wheels, but there's a movement out there, and more and more shops will stock this bike and parts for it.
The Bleriot is ideal for anything you want to do on the road except race. For centuries, weekend rides, touring, day rides, and commuting, it is a bullseye. For fire trails, unbeatable. It's not a road racing bike or a mountain bike& or a BMX bike or a trials bike, for that matter. But it is a comfortable, versatile, all-weather, all-surface, all-year round bike that's beautiful, well-made, and affordable. We believe it is the best value in a bicycle today.
Sizes 49 through 61. One color only sort of minty blue, with cream head tube panel and lug details.
