People who don't know me too well sometimes wonder if I'm totally sane. My latest project, however, should remove all doubt on this point!

I've been very taken with the versatility of the Surly Karate Monkey frame, and also with the Rohloff Speedhub 14 speed internal-gear system. I decided to put together a bike for visitors to the shop to be able to test ride.

Now, this presents a few problems, because I wanted a setup that could be comfortably test-ridden by riders of differing sizes and riding styles.

Should I put straight bars or drop bars on it? Should I mount the bars high or low? Well, the fork comes with a nice long threadless steerer, so why not both?

Then there's the question of brakes. The Karate Monkey frame has fittings for either disk brakes or cantilevers...but choosing is too hard, so why not both?
