On a perfect spring day, the civil ceremony (no harsh words passed!) was performed by a justice of the peace (who was probably the only non-cyclist present) at the Al Lester memorial, on the Minute Man Commuter Bikeway, in Lexington Massachusetts.
Pamela arrived from the East, on her Softride solo; John rolled in from the West on his new Rivendell solo; after the cermony they pedaled away on their Rodriguez tandem (in-phase cranks).
The bride wore a black and white damask cycling jersey, black Lycra shorts and SPD sandals; the groom: kelly green, black shorts, and Sidi shoes.
A delicious edge of danger and excitement was provided by the the steady stream of rollerskaters and cyclists as they whizzed past the milling throng, especially when the justice of the Peace backed across the trail to take group photos.
It was a lovely event, concluding with the company assembled reading the old Irish blessing:
"May the road rise to meet you, may the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, the rains fall soft upon your fields and, until we meet again may God hold you in the palm of his hand."
