Typical house in the jungle, at Coba
Mayan houses are small, but practical. They don't use beds, but sleep in string hammocks (a Mayan invention.) The houses have hooks in the walls for the hammocks, and when the family rises in the morning, the hammocks are taken down. This makes very efficient use of floor space, so the houses are effectively roomier than they look.
