Executive Director Deborah Shoenberg marks her 16th season with The Publick Theatre, Inc., having served as Marketing and Development Director for 11 of those years.Deborah was instrumental in the development of Brush Up Your Shakespeare, a community outreach program that gives youths the opportunity to earn a free ticket to the Shakespeare production offered yearly. In 1994 she created Project Shakespeare, an education outreach program for teens which has received critical praise for its productions of The Taming of the Shrew and Romeo and Juliet which she directed.
As an actor with the Publick, she has appeared as Portia in The Merchant of Venice, the Nurse in Romeo and Jullet, Olivia in Twelfth Night, Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing, Helena in A Midsummer Night's Dream; Jenny in Quilters and, Frances in A Voice of the Prairie. Regionally, Deborah has worked at The Equity Library Theatre in Chicago, Missouri Repertory Theatre, The Berkeley Shakespeare Company, San Francisco Repertory, and Studio Arena Theatre in NY. She also toured with the National Shakespeare Co. appearing as Ariel in The Tempest and Kate in The Taming of the Shrew. Deborah recently graduated with her M.A. in Theatre Education from Emerson College and teaches Drama at Waltham High School.
