Your turn to turn the wrench!
This Web site seeks in every way to preserve, spread and extend the legacy of its late, beloved founder, Sheldon Brown! For decades, Sheldon's masterful mechanical skills transformed discarded and disused bicycles and components into splendid examples of artistry and style -- and into practical, useful transportation and joyful recreation for him, his family, friends and customers.
Sheldon knew that these old classics would someday be worth something, so he kept a secret stash of bikes and parts under the front steps of his home.
Now, YOU get to carry on Sheldon's proud tradition. Sheldon's family, friends and co-workers, inheritors of his tradition, tools, parts and bicycle collection -- are proud to announce The Sheldon Brown Bicycle Revival Concours d' Élégance.
Which one of these marvels of mid-20th-century mass production will you revive, restore, ride and cherish?
This Columbia gem of the ocean and other great bicycles await your ministrations. Please send for the full catalog!
Time flies for those among us who are blessed with projects that exercise our creativity and spontaneity. In only a few exciting, fulfilling hours, you could make it as irresistible as this -- or better.
Don't pass up the challenge! Don't be a wimp and just try to (ugh) buy the respect of your riding companions with some silly combustible, disposable carbon-fiber poseur's toy. Instead, rebuild a bicycle that already has lasted for decades, to be your pride and joy for decades to come.
Earn respect with your skill and judgment, as Sheldon did. YOU select one of the fine bicycles that Sheldon was keeping in reserve for future projects. YOU restore it and submit it for judging by our panel of experts.
Hurry to place your order -- quantities are limited. First come, first served. There are only 23 bicycles under Sheldon's front porch -- to meet worldwide demand -- and some of them, obviously, are more desirable than others. But, in the interest of fairness, handicap points will be awarded to contestants who take on the most challenging restorations.
Winners will be announced when ten entries have been received. Perfectionists, take note, time also is of the essence!
