Patrick Swanson has over thirty years of experience as a theatre director in both Europe and the United States. His numerous projects have included opera, ensemble theatre, music theatre, and circus. Mr. Swanson has taught acting and improvisation at the London Academy of Dramatic Art (L.A.M.D.A.), the London Drama Centre, and New York University and he was a performer with New York's La MaMa Troupe from 1969-1970. He also served as Artistic Director of the Castle Hill Festival at Castle Hill in Ipswich, Massachusetts. As Artistic Director of Revels, Inc, Mr. Swanson creates Revels' scripts, directs its productions, and serves as the artistic consultant to the eleven other Revels organizations scattered throughout the United States. In addition to Revels productions in Cambridge and Boston, recent critically-acclaimed directing credits include: Tristan and Iseult with the Boston Camerata at the Spoleto USA festival, Shirley Valentine at Houston's Alley Theatre and Boston's Charles Playhouse, and two premieres at Gloucester Stage Company, Talking Heads by Alan Bennet and Fighting Over Beverly by Israel Horowitz.In the spring of 2000, Mr. Swanson directed "The Mysteries," a contemporary version of the Medieval mystery plays, co-produced by Revels and Shakespeare & Company as a Millennium celebration at the Boston Center for the Arts.
