The steps of a Mayan pyramid are rather tall and rather steep, which can get scary. The effect is somewhat exaggerated by the 200 mm lens used for this photo, which has been tweaked in Photoshop to make the sides parallel. (Click here for the non-manipulated version.)There is a chain running down the middle of the steps, to act as a handhold for the timid. The figures in red skirts are a group of schoolchildren on a field trip.
