If you are a "fair weather" cyclist, you don't need fenders, but if you are a serious cyclist, and don't live in a desert climate, you really should have at least one bicycle with fenders.Fenders by themselves won't keep you dry in a pounding rain, but they make a tremendous difference when you are riding roads that are wet from drizzle, recent rain, or snow-melt.
Even in hard rain, you will become wet with clean rain from above, but your body and bicycle will be protected from the mud and sand kicked up from dirty puddles and rivulets.

We carry the excellent German SKS (formerly called ESGE) fenders. They are made of laminated plastic/aluminum, and come in several widths. They are available in black, or in silver with black stripes.ESGE/SKS fenders feature stainless steel hardware and the "securi-clip" breakaway mount for the front fender stays.
Fenders include the stays (struts) and the hardware to attach the stays to the fenders only.Hardware that attaches to the bicycle will vary from bike to bike, and is not included with the fenders.
If your bike is properly designed for all weather use, full fenders like the SKS models shown above are far and away the best way to go.Unfortunately, many newer bikes are designed more with racing styling than function in mind, and as a result, these bikes won't accept normal fenders. This is where the SKS Raceblade comes in. These fenders attach with rubber quick-release bands to the seatstays and fork blades of racing style "road" bikes. They don't fit under the fork crown nor under the seatstay bridge, so they don't require any additional tire clearance.
These are the best of the "clip on" style fenders, and will make your wet rides a lot more comfortable than no fenders, though not nearly as comfortable as full fenders would.
If you look at most bicycle catalogues, you'll find a wide variety of shorty or mini fenders, some that attach to the seatpost, some that attach to the fork crown, some that attach to the frame down tube. These are crap!
Nobody who has ever ridden in the wet with real, full-coverage fenders would ever want those, so we don't sell the silly things.

Sheldon Fender Nuts Now In Stock! FE023 $12.95/set
Traditional fender hardware has not changed since the days of exposed nuts holding brake calipers to the frame/fork. However, most newer caliper brakes use "recessed mounting." This has required mounting the tab on the front of the fork, which reduces clearance under the fork crown, and also rotates the front fender forward so it provides less protection to your feet (and your drivetrain.)The Sheldon Fender Nut permits mounting the front fender tab behind the fork crown where it belongs.
In addition, the use of Sheldon Fender Nuts permits periodic removal/re-installation of the fenders without disturbing the centering adjustment of your brake calipers.
Standard 6mm "recessed" brake nut with longer internal threading and extension on the back for a 6mm mounting bolt
Install brake caliper normally, and mount fender to nut with a 6mm bolt
Includes a 13mm front brake nut and a 10mm rear brake nut
A pair of Fender Nuts should fit most steel and Aluminum road frames and forks.

We sell the various nuts and bolts individually below, but we also offer mounting hardware kits. These are all stainless steel, except as noted.Standard Fender Mounting Kit $3.50
