New coverage of Shimano 3-speed
The Shimano 3-speed hub page has been updated with coverage of the SG-3R75 pulley-shifting hub including drive ratios. The gear calculator pages also have been updated.

Update to Damon Rinard’s Spocalc Spoke calculator — new advice on fatbikes and hub motors, more spoke calculators for mobile devices added to the list at the bottom of the page, correction of a minor math error (display of bracing angle for radial spoking).

Major update to Shimano 8-speed IG hub page
Our page about Shimano 8-speed internal-gear hubs now includes information on the new hub models. The table listing hubs has a new column indicating which cassette joint or motor unit works with each hub, and which hubs have interchangeable internal parts.

Gear Calculator now supports 12-sprocket cassettes
Update to our gear calculator. It now supports custom 12-sprocket cassettes, and has a listing for the stock SRAM 12-sprocket cassette. Not that we really think that thin sprockets, with a flimsy chain, are a good idea!
More tire sizes
We’re added some bicycle tire sizes (mostly, rare Dutch sizes) to the ISO cross-reference list in our tire-sizing article. We think we have all currently available sizes covered, but if you know of others, please let us know.
Updated information on drivetrain compatibility
Our article about cassettes has been updated to include information on 11-speed systems. Interesting — all major brands of 11-speed casettes now have the same sprocket spacing. Most rear derailers and shifters are not compatible, though. We can tell you which ones are.
