We have a much expanded description of how to rebuild a freewheel, now a new article and no longer just a paragraph in our main article on freewheels.
Every once in a while we go back and review our pages to deal with product changes and link rot. We just did that with all our pages about Sachs and SRAM internal-gear hubs. You will find product manuals here which are hard to find anywhere else. You can start with our main page about these hubs.
Major revision to our article about Sturmey-Archer indicator spindles — which ones fit which hubs. Also a new article on how to measure for an indicator spindle in case you can’t identify the hub. Many thanks to Bruce Dance for suggestions, corrections and new material!
We have updated all of our pages about Sachs and SRAM internal-gear hubs, fixing broken links and, regretfully, indicating that SRAM is now no longer making internal-gear hubs. But many of you are using these hubs, and we are maintaining information on them. Main page with links to others.
Pages about tandems and tandeming Sheldon Brown and family on home-built tandems[/caption] have been updated. We have more about disc brakes, brake levers, Gates synchronizing belts, and details about upgrading a cheap beach-resort tandem to ride with a child.
Harriet has neatly reformatted Sheldon’s bicycle page. Read all about ’em. I find the page about his Greenspeed recumbent especially interesting. Who but Sheldon would be extolling the advantages of a low-rider tadpole recumbent tricycle for off-road riding?
Our Shimano 7-speed hub page is now updated to fix the links which broke when Shimano redid its Web site. We have also added information about new models, and made a few improvements in the text. All of our pages about Shimano internal-gear hubs are now up to date.
We have updated our article about Sturmey-Archer 4, 5 and 7-speed internal-gear hubs to reflect changes in hub availability and new documentation.
Shimano Nexus 4-speed page updated — in our continuing quest to keep up to date with Shimano’s ever-changing Web site, we’ve updated the links and related information on Shimano Nexus 4-speed internal-gear hubs
Sheldonbrown.com provides a forwarding page whenever we consolidate or move material. Not so Shimano, which broke all our links to its technical information. Sigh. We have just repaired our page on Shimano 8-speed internal-gear hubs.
